Tallulah learns to live without Sabueso.

Tallulah and SamiDrew took Sabueso to Nashville with him when he left on Thursday. It will be interesting to see how the dogs fair without the other one. They really haven't been apart. But, Drew wanted to take Sabueso with him and give it a try. The house Drew is renting has a fenced yard which Sabueso will love. So, Tallulah got to be in the shop both Thursday and Friday. She is getting the picture about not jumping to people, slowly but surely. Tallulah loves Sami and always looks for her when she comes into the shop. This was the start of the day on Thursday.
Tallulah and the quilt So, after a day in the shop as the shop dog Tallulah sat on the quilt on my lap. It is not the norm, but I enjoyed having a lap dog for a few moments.

Ruby Jude Childers.

Ruby Jude Childers Quilt Our friends the Childers had a beautiful baby girl on Tuesday. I had picked the black and white fabric for the quilt as they are a hip contemporary couple. I decided that depending on the gender of the baby, the "sparkle" border would be either hot pink or blue. Well, when I found out the baby was a girl, I decided it really needed a red border. Then I found out her name is Ruby, that made it even more perfect. Anyway, congrats Sarah and Wes, Ruby is perfect. I hope you get lots of snuggle time with Ruby and her quilt.

Visiting Drew.

Robert and I ventured to Nashville this weekend to visit Drew and take him his bookcases and some other stuff he could not get in his car. It was good to see him and see where he lives and meet some of his roommates. It makes me realize how much I miss him though, but at the same time I am excited for him. I am looking forward to seeing where God leads him in this adventure.

5 guys and their coffee This cracked me up, everyone has their own coffee with their name on it. I guess I have never lived with 4 other people other than my family....so it struck me as funny that you would label your own coffee.

Kathy gets some work done on her "Diva".

pre-sewing divaI have managed to get a little diva time in here and there. Tonight while Marie was teaching the sampler class, I was able to hang out and work on her some more. I managed to get her all cut out and fused on. YAY!!! Honestly all the small pieces are a pain, but once you are past that, the end of it finishes pretty quickly. Now it get to blanket stitch it all down and EMBELISH it. kathy and the diva
Look she is almost as tall as me.

Productive few days at the shop.

quilts to quiltOne of the things on Robert's "honey do" list was to remove a shelf and put up a rod to hang quilts on that are in the queue to be quilted. I manage to get two quilts quilted a week. I am hoping that that will be more like three or four. Anyway, as of right now, I only want to have eight quilts in the shop at one time, ,because that puts me a month out of getting all done. Thanks, honey for getting some stuff marked off of your list too.
new shelves
Robert got new shelves put up in the break room. It is very wonderful to have room to put up coffee cups and stuff, another small step in helping me get organized.
clean office You may not be impressed, but I got the office/store room/ break room cleaned today. Honestly, one of the things that owning the quilt shop has brought into huge glaring light is some of my weaknesses. One of them being I am not very organized, therefore I spend a lot of time looking for stuff, because I can't remember where I put it. And stuff just gets put in the office and then it is hard to walk around in there. So it is pretty amazing that you can walk safely around my tiny space and open the door to the fridge without having to kick stuff out of the way. This was one of the ten things on my to do list. It took me two days, but I got everything marked off of my list. Yay!

Beth's lap dog quilts.

lap dog quilt My friend Beth is a talented artist. She made this great quilt of my dog "Princess Tallulah Sassy Pants Barks-a-lot" It is a great likeness of her. I can hardly walk by it without touching it. She is selling these great personalized portrait quilts. Stop by the shop or give her a call at 770-815-0878. Thanks.

A couple more Monday quilts.

April's charm quiltThis is a lovely quilt pieced by ny friend April. I quilted floopy feathers in the border and then did a floral echo in the body of the quilt. It makes me smile it I think it turned out really well. I hope it makes her smile.
Mandy's t-shirt quilt This is a great t-shirt quilt. The quilter made it for her niece that is graduating. It doesn't have any sashing and there is not any interfacing on the back of the t-shirts. I was a little nervous about quilting it, but it quilted easily and was fun to quilt.

Saturday quilting.

stuck quilting We had lots of fun in the shop today. Marie had a 9 month sampler class. Beth came up to quilt Kiki's graduation t-shirt quilt. Jennifer worked on the Grandma's kitchen BOM kits. And I worked on the Christmas mystery. Intermixed with all of that was customers and walking dogs and cutting fabric, making a kitting some pillowcases, and pinning quilts.......It was an all around great day. Marie, Jennifer, Beth and I hung out after the shop closed and finished up some projects. Then from the front of the store we hear "crap" and hysterical laughter. Beth had mangaged to quilt her hopping foot into the quilt. We all had a good laugh! Here's the picture of the trapped hopping foot.

The weekend.

Sam and Olivia I'm not sure what it says that on our first official weekend as empty nesters Robert goes to Roswell and Beth comes to visit me............ anyway, a good time was had in Augusta, laughing and quilting and watching chick flicks. Robert and Don got a short motorcycle ride in and went to a baseball game to see Robert's brother Sean and his family. Here are his two girls Samantha and Olivia. jack mullis The Mullis gene's are strong. Redheads and all. However, I think that Jack is the only redheaded grandson. At least I can't think of any others. So, poor Jack gets the double whammy red hair and boy. I know that Sean and Becky go to bed tired and thankful every night.

Andy's graduation t-shirt quilt.

close up andy's quilt

Here is a close up view of Andy's quilt. I haven't quilted a t-shirt quilt with "swirl echos" before. I quilted it on Drew's sudoku quilt and I really love it. I think it looks masculine and it is fun, fun, fun to quilt on a quilt.

whole quilt This quilt was made in colaboration with Andy's mom Marcie. The Stewarts are friends of our from Colorado. Andy is a year younger than Drew. We spent many an hour hanging out at the parks together. Andy with his blond hair and blue eyes and Drew with his brown hair and brown eyes. It made me smile inside and out to make this quilt and to think about all the fun we had together and to pray for Andy as he enters the next stage of his life. Way to go Andy!

Maybe they can be shop dogs after all.

may022009-007My dogs got to try their paws at being shop dogs this weekend. They hung out in the shop because of the loft tours. They were a little confused that they had to be on their leashes most of the day, but all in all they did fine.
