The Double Pinwheel that started it all.

Debbie's double pin wheel sherbert quilt.
This is the first quilt that Debbie and I quilted on the HQ. We really had no idea what we were doing, but knew that we needed to quilt a quilt. This was Debbie's and it was just going to be h on her bed. So, we quilted it. We were white knuckled while we were quilting, and we quilted the snot out of it. I think that we used 10 bobbins....anyway, Debbie brought it down so I could look at it, because I really like it and wanted to check out the pattern she used because I knew it was different than the one in the book that I have. Well, it is lovely and several people offered to take it off her hands...but, she managed to make it back to Woodstock with it. It inspired me to keep going making lots of double pinwheel blocks....16 down hundreds to go.

Hopefully you are not tired of quilting Mondays.

Mary Lou, sampler with Baptist fans. Here's what I got done this Monday. A smaller version of the purple sampler that Mary Lou pieced. She wanted an all over quilting with Baptist fans. I do enjoying quilting that on sampler quilts. This one was interesting as she wanted it quilted witha dark purple thread.

Double Pin Wheels.

We cut lots of strips and now I am sewing them back together. This part is going pretty fast. I do love the 1930 reproduction prints.

Christmas in July.

Christmas in July 2009Today is July 25th and we thought we would celebrate Christmas in July with a Christmas party, complete with punch, cider, cookies, music, door prizes and discounts. It was lots of fun. The cider filled the shop with a delicious smell and the music made you sing out loud. Marie and I wore Santa hats and Sami was our elf who drew names for the door prizes. It was fun and I am looking forward continuing the tradition next year.

Grrrr.

Grrr. So, this is what I noticed when I went to feed the dogs this morning. Evidence we have a mouse (hopefully not a rat) in the house. There are two things that push me over the edge as far as pests go. Mice is one of them. So, off to the store to get every kind of trap known to man. Hopefully we will be mouse free soon.

One of the fun things about being at the Well is we get to be friends with lots of young families. So, I get to make lots of baby quilts. I almost always make "Yellow Brick Road" I made this one using some of the new beach fabrics and some brights. It was fun to do and I can't wait until baby boy Webb comes into the world and gets to use it.

Here's the new Halloween faric that we recently got in. Marie and Sami made a great little wall hanging using the split rail pattern and the panel as a focus fabric. Pumpkin Man is a class that we are having on September 26th. Just in time for a fun decoration for your festivities.

Lots of time at the HQ today.

So, this one time I thought that I could get 3 quilts done in one day. Hmmm, I forgot that this first quilt in the queue was a large quilt that the owner wanted quilted with feather wreaths in the large white squares and stuff in the borders and stippling in the rest..........well it took me seven hours to get it quilted.
*sigh*
So, instead of the the normal two quilts and the lofty goal of three quilts, I only got one done....
*sigh*
Good thing I am a little ahead of the quilting this month.
Large purple samplerI do however, think that it looks really great.
large purple sampler close up Here's a close up of some of the quilting.
quilt back Here's the back of this large sampler quilt. There is lots of quilting and it almost looks like a whole cloth quilt.

Quilting the Thimbleberries BOM quilt.

Quilting DivasMarie loves the Baptist fan and has been excited about trying her hand at quilting it on the Thimbleberries quilt. She had Jennifer try her hand at it too. It took all day to get it quilted with having to stop and help me in the shop a couple of times today. Anyway it is done and looks fantastic!
Thimbleberries 3's Company Here's a picture of the Thimbleberries BOM 3's company. The Baptist fan is a great quilting pattern to use on a sampler quilt. I will take a better picture of it after Marie gets the binding on it and we get it hung up in the shop. I am excited to see it completely finished!

Happy and not so happy 4th of July.

the view from our kitchen windowSince we saw fireworks at the Green Jackets game last night we didn't feel a huge need to walk to the river tonight, here is the view from our kitchen window. Not too shabby.
The beagle hates fireworks. The view in the house of the scared beagle on Robert's lap. Tallulah thought for a minute she might be scared as well, but then decided "nah". She did however get a new buzz cut for the summer. It is so hot, I may decide I need a buzz cut as well.

A couple of days of quilting.

1930s signature quiltThe good news and the bad news is that the shop has been relatively slow this holiday week. So, I was able to get a couple of quilts quilted which gives me a head start on next week. One of which was this quilt that a customer brought in and asked about completely finishing this quilt for her. It is a great quilt, one that uses lots of different kinds of fabrics. Seems like a typical use every scrape and make it work quilt. It was fun to quilt it and I'm excited for her to see it finished.
Garden Gate I did get another quilt quilted this week. I quilted this lovely "garden gate" with a floral meander.

More Locker Updates.

Mary and her locker.Robert got the lockers finshed and Mary finally got a place to leave her sewing machine. Yay!
decorated lockers Sami got busy decorating the lockers today. She did a great job making magnets and putting our names and nick names on them. Honestly the lockers make me smile.
